Reading PDF Files
Most of the documents on this Website are in HTML - the Hypertext Markup Language used
by Web browsers.
Some are available in Portable Document Format - PDF - so that we can preserve layout,
fonts, and images from leaflets, forms etc.
If you want to be able to read these documents you will need to install a special
program called the Acrobat Reader on your computer. This program is free and available
over the Internet. Click on the Get Acrobat Reader button below. You will also find it on
many of the CD cover disks that come with computing/Internet magazines.
If you are reading this via the PDVN (i.e. on the Parliamentary Intranet), don't worry,
Acrobat Reader is already installed. Some PDVN "remote users" may have
problems with accessing Word versions of the Guides and Resources pages. Use the PDF
version instead.
In general we try to put a plain-text HTML version of any PDF document onto the Website
at the same time as we publish the PDF file, so that all visitors to the Website can read
the material.
